I’ve been struggling to put into words what’s currently happening in the world. The Covid-19 virus has flipped our normal lives upside down. Our kids are now at home from school, while most of you are also at home trying to work. People are out of jobs, since so many businesses have closed for the time being. The healthcare field/first responders have been faced with a crisis they have never seen before and I hope they will never have to face again. We, the people, have been tasked with (what I think is) an easy challenge, to stay at home to keep those most vulnerable safe. I really hope that we can all accept the current normal and do our part to socially distance.
For my brides and all the couples that have had to postpone their weddings, I want to thank you. Thank you for doing the responsible thing even though it’s dissapointing to have to pivot your wedding to a new day. Please know, as venders, we are here for you and will do everything in our power to support you during this challenging time. You are amazing!
For all the parents that are now dividing their time at home between work, their kids, and e-learning, I see you and we are all in this together. I hope you are able to embrace this time together as a family even though I know first hand how difficult it can be to get things done. My kids are being total rockstars and rolling with everything.
For me personally, I’m taking it one day at a time because I feel like I will collapse if I think about the month ahead at once. I’m trying to plan one fun thing to do with my girls each day. So far we have done science experiments, read with princesses and friends (via FaceTime), learned how to draw with Mo Willems lunchtime doodles, tried to get outside everyday, and hosted dance parties in our living room.
I hope everyone can take this time to reconnect with your family, learn something you’ve always wanted to learn, finish those DIY projects, exercise, meditate, and recharge your body, mind, and family. Maybe that can be the one good thing to come out of this. Maybe as a society we can learn that it’s okay to take it slow and not be constantly busy and that people are the most important thing in this life.
Stay safe everyone! We will persevere and get through this together!
